HOW TO REMOVE SET-IN GREASE STAINS FROM LAUNDRY

HOW TO REMOVE SET-IN GREASE STAINS FROM LAUNDRY

Let’s be clear: laundry is not my favorite chore. Despite having a charming laundry space, the task itself never appealed to me. The most daunting aspect? Tackling those persistent grease stains on my husband’s shirts that refused to vanish, regardless of the myriad sprays and stain removers I tried. It was a cycle of wash, rewash, and despair until a friend of my mom shared a miraculous solution that changed everything!

I seldom share cleaning hacks here, but the breakthrough was too significant not to spread the word, especially for anyone else facing this laundry nightmare. This revelation might include affiliate links, but believe me, it’s a game-changer.

The mystery of grease stains on every shirt was baffling, especially since we don’t use fabric softeners or dryer sheets, which some suggest could be culprits. This left me puzzled and frustrated, constantly discarding and replacing perfectly good polo shirts.

The lifesaver came in the form of Dawn Platinum Erasing Dish Foam, recommended by my mom’s friend. Originally designed for grease-laden dishes, this product proved its worth on laundry too. Initially, I sourced it from Target, but with its hit-or-miss availability, I’m considering Amazon for future purchases.

A bit of this foaming soap goes a long way. Just a small squeeze on each grease spot, a gentle rub with your fingers to ensure full coverage, and let it sit for about five minutes before the wash.

Proceed with your regular wash cycle using your favorite detergent – I swear by Tide Coldwater Clean for its effectiveness in cold water.

If the stain proves stubborn on the first go, a second or even third application of Dawn erasing foam usually does the trick, obliterating stains that seemed permanent even after previous washes and dries.

So far, my success has been with cotton, polyester, and denim. For more delicate fabrics, a spot test is prudent to avoid any mishaps.

Discovering this method has eased one of my major laundry frustrations, making the chore slightly more bearable. I still don’t enjoy laundry, but at least I’m not battling those grease stains anymore.

Have you found an unbeatable tip for stubborn laundry stains? I’d love to hear in the comments!
