Just weeks after Trump returned to the White House on January 20, Carville had forecasted that Trump\u2019s presidency would begin to unravel due to a combination of declining approval ratings, mass firings within the government, and a series of controversial executive actions.\n</p><p>Speaking to Mediaite\u2019s Dan Abrams shortly after Trump completed his first month back in office, Carville pointed to polling numbers showing Trump\u2019s approval rating had plummeted from the low 50s to the high 30s. At the time, he confidently predicted that it would take \u201cless than 30 days\u201d for the administration to face a major collapse, at least in terms of public opinion.\n</p><p><img fetchpriority='\"high\"' decoding='\"async\"' class='\"aligncenter' size-full wp-image-121268 src="%5C%22https:%5C/%5C/inovatestory.com%5C/wp-content%5C/uploads%5C/2025%5C/04%5C/Trumps-administration.webp%5C%22" alt='\"\"' width='\"720\"' height='\"900\"' srcset='\"https:\/\/inovatestory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Trumps-administration.webp' https: sizes='\"(max-width:'>\n</p><p>\u201cDemocrats need to play possum,\u201d Carville advised. \u201cThis whole thing is falling apart.\u201d\n</p><p>Now, just a month later, Carville says his prediction has come true \u2014 and even faster than he thought.\n</p><p>In a follow-up interview with CNN, Carville reacted to the latest controversy plaguing the Trump administration:<br>\nThe accidental leak of military plans to The Atlantic journalist Jeffrey Goldberg via the Signal messaging app. Carville admitted he underestimated how quickly things would unravel.\n</p><p>He recalled previously estimating that the administration would collapse by Memorial Day (May 26), but with recent events, he quipped: \u201cIt\u2019s before April Fool\u2019s Day \u2014 which, frankly, should be a national holiday for this administration because it fits them perfectly.\u201d\n</p><p>Carville elaborated, \u201cLook at the markets, look at this Signal-gate scandal, look at everything happening around us \u2014 I believe the collapse has already happened.\u201d\n</p><p>Still, while making it clear where he stands, Carville offered a more moderate take: \u201cLet\u2019s meet in the middle and say it\u2019s collapsing \u2014 I\u2019ll give you that much, but not more.\u201d\n</p><p>When asked about polls suggesting Trump\u2019s popularity is higher now than when he was re-elected, Carville dismissed the significance of approval ratings alone: \u201cPoll numbers don\u2019t win elections \u2014 votes do.\u201d\n</p><p>Carville concluded by criticizing the current state of leadership, saying the country is being run by \u201cbuffoons\u201d and reiterating, \u201cHonestly, I thought I\u2019d have to wait longer to see the collapse, but it happened even faster than I imagined.\u201d\n</p><p>&nbsp;\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"</p><p>Strategist who made bold prediction on when Trump\u2019s administration will \u2018collapse\u2019 claims it\u2019s now happened&hellip; A Democratic strategist who once predicted the downfall of Donald Trump\u2019s administration now believes that moment has arrived \u2014 and even sooner than he originally anticipated.
