I think all of us would agree that beauty is only skin deep but we also need to understand the truthfulness behind that saying. We tend to judge people by what we see on the outside but the real beauty is what radiates from deep inside.
Beauty is also something that we see online on a regular basis, especially the type that is only seen by outward appearance. Social media has made it a regular thing for people to share images of themselves, their friends, and their children and it sometimes meets with some judging.
This includes what one young mother named Natasha experiences when she posts pictures about her family. She regularly posts pictures of her son, Raedyn, online, just as other mothers post pictures of their sons regularly.
The difference is, that when she posts pictures of her son, she doesn’t always get positive feedback. In fact, there are many times when bullies and trolls will come out and say the meanest things to her.
When she posts pictures on Instagram or TikTok, where she regularly shares videos, there are many people who are supportive of her endeavors. There are also many people who ask her to stop uploading images and videos of the baby boy.
She will snap back at them, saying that she will not stop sharing pictures of her son, just because he looks different. She feels that he is just as perfect as any other child, even though he may not look like most children.
She is also surprised that so many people will comment and ask what is wrong with the child or why the child looks that way. Although it is one thing to be curious, it’s another thing to be cruel.
The little child was born with Pfeiffer syndrome, which causes deformities in the face, skull, and limbs. Natasha doesn’t see the faults when she looks at her son, which is why she posts videos of him regularly.
She also recognizes that many of the comments she receives are hurtful and cruel. People ask about his quality of life or why someone would make him live like that.
If that isn’t bad enough, people in real life also regularly make insensitive remarks by coming up to her directly in public. They will come up and ask her what’s wrong with the child or why the child looks that way.
These questions are difficult for her to face, and she feels it is exhausting to explain his health problems and appearance over and over again. She said that he lives a life like every other child and although he looks different, that doesn’t mean he is less of a child.
She said: “He deserves life, he deserves acceptance – I will fight until my dying day for that.”
“What people need to understand is that I am just a mum and my son is just a baby… our life doesn’t revolve around his diagnosis.”
“We are just a normal family. I pray for the world to accept disabled people one day and not judge off of their appearance and the things they cannot do.”
It’s unfortunate that so many people are so quick to be cruel and not to see the beauty in the little boy. We wish the family the best and hope they continue to do what makes them feel good.

I think all of us would agree that beauty is only skin deep but we also need to understand the truthfulness behind that saying.
